With Valentine's Day just around the corner, what better time to get your lips in perfect condition for date night? (ooh la laaa). Hubby and I don't really celebrate Valentine's, but I know many people do, so a post on lip products seemed fitting!
Before you start applying your red and pink lippies like they're going out of fashion.. STOP. First you've gotta prep them and get them in the best condition they can be. For this, a lip scrub is absolutely essential. Lush do amazing lip scrubs in a selection of yummy flavours, with the Bubblegum Lip Scrub being my flavour of choice for the moment. After you've scrubbed, you want to go ahead and apply a lip balm. My absolute favourite winter saviour is the Nuxe Reve De Miel Lip Balm, but if you're after something a bit lighter, the Vaseline Pink Bubbly is perfect for valentines with it's rosy scent. I actually picked this up in my local Poundland recently - bonus!
I for one am not a massive lover of red lips (no Ruby Woo's or Russian Red's here I'm afraid). I never feel like I suit a bright red lip - or maybe I'm just not daring enough, so I always turn to darker pinks or berry tones for a special occasion. However, one red I have found that I really do like is the Tanya Burr Lip Gloss in Vampire Kiss*, a deep, seductive red that's perfect for an evening out. I absolutely love the Tanya Burr Lipglosses and can't wait to add more into my collection. Onto a more wearable (for me) shade is the Rimmel Apocalips Lip Lacquer in the shade Aurora, an easy to wear deep pink. If you want something a little less messy to reapply throughout the evening, then MAC's Speed Dial Lipstick might just be the one. It's a cremesheen though, so if you're after something a little more longlasting and smudgeproof, then you might wanna raid your stash for a matte red.
What will you be wearing on your lips this Valentine's Day?
