The Bath Mama Luxury Bath Creamer Gift Set

Ahh, bathtime. My favourite time of the day (even if I do usually share my bath with a toddler, lol). The Bath Mama is a relatively new company that I've recently been introduced to. They stock a wide range of bath/relaxation products including bath bombs, creamers, fizzes, soaps, candles and more. I was recently contacted by them and asked if I'd like to try one of their luxury gift sets, and as a massive lover of cute bath products I certainly wasn't gonna say no.

The Luxury Bath Creamer Gift Set* (currently on sale for £10.99) contains 6 luxury bath creamers in assorted designs. They come packaged in a cute pink box and are all individually wrapped to prevent them from breaking. How adorable? I absolutely love the designs and the effort that has gone in to creating each one. To use, you simply remove them from the little paper cups that they're housed in, and drop into your bath. As they fizz and melt, they release a blend of moisturising ingredients to soften the skin and make your bath all luxurious and creamy. I've popped one of these into my bath for the last few nights and think they're really cute and a lovely addition my bath. They don't create bubbles, so I like to add bubble bath aswell, but they make my skin super soft and they make the bath smell wonderful. I reckon any girl would love to receive this little set as a gift.

At Home Ombré with Jerome Russell Bblonde

Ombré, the biggest hair craze since the curly perm - lollllz. If you're a regular reader of my blog you'll have probably heard me go on about the fact I change my hair more than the weather. I've had a pretty boring hair colour throughout my whole pregnancy (plain old light brown), and I've been desperate to lighten it but I didn't wanna use bleach or any strong chemicals on my hair whilst I was pregnant. Fast forward 5 weeks after having Freddie and just I couldn't bare my boring locks any longer. I've been obsessing over the idea of going blonde and chopping my hair off for months (see my hairspiration post) but I haven't plucked up the courage to do so yet, so when the lovely people at Jerome Russell Bblonde asked if I'd like to try one of their Maximum Ombré Kits, I thought why not? What did I have to lose? If I liked it I might keep my hair longer, & if I didn't like it then it would be getting chopped off anyway. 

I decided to go for the Maximum Ombré Kit No.2* (for blonde to medium brown hair) along with their Champagne Blonde Toner*, to remove any brassy yellow tones that might come through when bleached. I've tried at home ombré kits before (the L'Oreal ones), but I wasn't a huge fan as I found it really hard to get a gradual effect with the stupid little plastic combs they give. So, onto the Ombré Kit itself...

The Jerome Russell Bblonde Maximum No.2 Ombré Kit* comes with:

Mixing Tray

Brush

Gloves

High Lift Powder Bleach

Medium Lift Cream Peroxide

Blending Lotion

Conditioning Shampoo

Step 1: Mix the Cream Peroxide & Powder Bleach into the mixing tray into a paste

Step 2: Part dry hair down the centre of the head & apply blending lotion from where you want the ombré to start, down to the tips of the hair. I started mine from my ear lobes.

Step 3: Starting at the back of the hair, apply the bleach using the brush from the tips up to where the blending lotion stops. Don't apply above the blending lotion.

Step 4: Making sure all hair is covered, leave to develop for between 20 and 45 minutes.

I left mine for around 40 minutes and this is how it looked when I washed it off using the conditioning shampoo... (this is straight after roughly blow drying)

Overall I'm really pleased with the results and I'm V V V shocked at how well it's blended compared to my other ombré attempts in the past. Blending lotion is clearly the key here as I've never used that before and it seems to have worked wonders at removing the dreaded straight line. This is how it turned out without the Bblonde toner and it really wasn't brassy like I thought it was gonna be so I'm gonna keep hold of the toner for a few weeks until I feel like my blonde needs brightening up a bit.

Benefit Fake Up Hydrating Concealer

Benefit Hydrating Crease Control Concealer. £18.50

My experience with concealers has never been great. I've never found one that's really wowed me. I think its because my skin is so dry that they always flake and crease and just generally look awful, especially around the eyes. My brother bought me 5 Benefit products for Christmas (I know, right? Totally spoilt), and the Fake Up Hydrating Crease Control Concealer in 01 Light was one of them. I'd heard of Fake Up but I thought it was just another boring concealer until I opened it. It's so different to your regular concealer. I'd certainly never seen a product like it before, so I was excited to give it a go.

What do Benefit say?

This crease control hydrating formula - with vitamin E and apple seed extract - boosts hydration, hides dark circles and diffuses fine lines. Get the smoothest, most natural look... or refresh your favourite concealer by layering fakeup on top. It never settles and neither should you! 

Firstly, the packaging. Can we take a moment? How pretty? I love the sleekness of it and find the pink really compliments the silver. Anyway, what makes this different from other concealers out there is that it's essentially a 2 in 1 product. The outer (clear) part is like a hydrating balm which contains Vitamin E and Apple Seed extract to help hydrate and brighten dull skin, whilst the inner part is the concealing pigment which obviously aims to conceal any dark circles, blemishes etc, and even brighten if you get a lighter shade than your skin tone (which I have). This is the most hydrating concealer I've ever used. At first I found it really strange because of how easily it slides onto the skin in an almost slip slidey manner. I find it fantastic to use under the eyes to conceal any dark circles if I'm particularly tired (which is often at the moment with a newborn). For covering blemishes I only find it ok. I prefer to dot another concealer over them first to hide any redness as it's a little bit too sheer for that, then like to go over the top with this for extra hydration and to stop it from creasing.

All in all, another excellent product from Benefit. Seriously, can they do no wrong? I'd say this is definitely more for the normal to drier skinned gals out there, as I'm not sure how this would be on an oily skintype.

March 2015 Favourites

It's that time again. I feel like I haven't done a favourites post for a while, and there's a fair few new products in my stash that I've been loving all month.

The first, and possibly my favourite of them all is Badedas Original Bath Gelee. Badedas is renowned for being a new Mum's favourite, but I'm not entirely sure why, as it's not marketed as pregnancy/birth related. It's been said to be great for healing after giving birth, and I know loads of Mums swear by it for this. I love it mainly because of the memories now. When I had George (who's now 2.5yrs), I got a bottle of this and absolutely loved it. It was so gentle and felt like it soothed my stitches (sorry tmi, lol). It's so luxurious and thick. The tiniest bit creates a massive amount of bubbles and the smell is amazing, like nothing else I've ever used. I used up the bottle and I never got any more until recently. Before I had Freddie I treat myself to a big bottle ready for when I came home as I wasn't sure if I was going to need stitches again (turned out I didn't). Anyway, I've been using nothing else in my bath for the past 4 weeks and I really don't want it to end. Sorry Lush, you've taken a back seat for now.

For my skin, I've been loving the Tisserand Aromatherapy Rosehip Beauty Oil (review here). I know it says it's for mature skin, but I swear it's cleared up my hormonal skin freakout and has really helped with the dehydration. My skin looks and feels so much happier since using this daily.

I recently spoke about an amazing budget beauty find in the form of essence Lip Liners (post here). At £1 each they're absolutely fantastic and there's some seriously amazing shades. I've been using the shade Satin Mauve on it's own pretty much all month and loving the Kylie Jenner effect it gives. If you haven't tried these already, you need to do so (found in Wilkos).

I'm sure you're all sick of seeing this little sample of Benefit's Roller Lash Mascara popping up on every blog, but it's a seriously amazing mascara and I'll be very tempted to splurge on the full size when this runs out. I've been using it since I got it last month and am really impressed. It's the best mascara I've tried in a long time, it gives fantastic lift and curl and separates the lashes to give a fanned out effect. Fab!

The whole month I've been wearing pretty much nothing but the new Hugo Woman* by Hugo Boss. It's my perfect perfume. It's fruity and floral which I love, but it's not overly sweet. It has a sophistication about it that you don't normally get with fruity fragrances as it has a slight musky undertone. I know musky doesn't sound great in a woman's perfume, but this really works to create a wonderful warm scent I've been wearing daily.
